Does a Leaking Shower Need Tiles Removed?
It depends on the cause of the leak and the condition of the shower.
Some problems may involve worn silicone, shower screen seals or plumbing. Others involve the waterproofing beneath the tiles. Replacing grout or applying a surface sealer won’t repair a failed waterproofing membrane.
If waterproofing work is needed, tiles may need to be removed to access the affected area. The extent of the repair depends on what we find and whether the existing waterproofing can be reliably connected to the new work.
We’ll explain whether a localised repair is suitable or whether a larger section needs rebuilding. We’ll also discuss tile-matching options, as an exact match isn’t always available.

Carry out the Repair: Depending on the problem, the work may involve seals, plumbing, tiling or waterproofing. Where tiles need removing, we check the exposed surfaces and discuss any additional damage before carrying out further work.

Finish and Check: We complete the agreed work, check the repaired area and explain any drying or curing time before the shower can be used. We also provide relevant documentation and care advice.
